I always mention how much I love holidays with kids, but it is because my kids make the holidays so much more fun! Easter is no exception. I start collecting little items and goodies for my kid’s baskets weeks in advance. I do feel like it is super easy to go overboard with an easter basket so for the last two years I’ve tried really hard to incorporate a few summer essentials that I’m already buying for them anyway. This year those items include summer shoes, swimsuits and sunglasses. Then I like to add in some fun treats and toys. This year I decided to add some fun handmade name tags from this darling shop. They added the perfect touch! Scott and I love to hide the baskets Easter morning so the kids have to find them. It makes the whole thing last a little longer and the kids love it!
I kept things fairly simple with Easter decorations this year and only put them out in one spot. I have this little white cabinet in my kitchen that is the perfect spot to add fun holiday items. When the seasonal decor is contained in one spot, I don’t feel like it is taking over my house and I don’t get overwhelmed decorating. For me it is the best way to keep things simple yet festive.
One of my favorite traditions with each holiday is giving my kids books to go along with it. A few weeks ago I left a pile of Easter books out for the kids to find. I like to give them to the kids a little early so that we can read through them ahead of time and talk about the holiday coming up to get them excited. The best part about this tradition is that you can add to your book collection each year. I try to put the easter books away once the holiday is over so that when I bring them out again the following year they feel brand new.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday with your family and loved ones!
